Settings
Look up General, Tools, Sync, and repository settings.
MarkdownGeneral
Open Settings with Command+Comma or the toolbar's gear button. Changes are saved automatically.
In General, set the global Git name and email for new commits. Valid identity edits are saved when field editing finishes. Global identity also affects commits made outside GitLode.
You can enable author portraits from Gravatar. Requests contain a SHA-256 hash of the author's normalized email address. Portraits are cached locally; initials appear when portraits are disabled or unavailable. Disabling portraits clears their cached data. GitLode has no application telemetry, and history search runs locally.
GitLode follows your Mac's appearance and accent color. There is no separate app theme switch.
Tools
Look at Git integration to see whether GitLode uses Basic mode or Full Git Integration. Use Install…, Update…, and Remove… to manage the helper script. See Full Git Integration.
Use Grant Access to Home Folder… or Revoke Access to control whether Git can read your Git configuration and SSH settings in Basic mode. See Folder access.
Select diff and merge tools. Tool settings apply to every repository. Custom tools must be configured globally. To use diff and merge tools, you need Full Git Integration.
Inspect the selected Git executable. In Basic mode, GitLode uses Apple's Git from the Command Line Tools or Xcode. With Full Git Integration, choose automatic selection or a specific path. With automatic selection, GitLode uses the first git in your shell's PATH. See Configure Git and external tools.
Sync
Automatic fetching defaults to every five minutes. Choose every 5, 15, or 30 minutes, Every hour, or Manually.
Fetch on expensive connections is off by default. Respect Low Power Mode is on by default. When enabled, automatic fetch and search indexing pause during Low Power Mode. Manual Git actions remain available.
Repository Settings
Open Repository Settings through the Repository menu or a repository's shortcut menu. You can change its display name, automatic-fetch preference, and Git identity, or pause and rebuild its search index. Use global identity removes the repository's identity overrides.
Drafts, target selections, groups, and aliases are saved locally. GitLode also restores selections, scroll positions, window dimensions, and pane sizes. See Background fetching and search indexing.
