Download GitLode
Buy GitLode on the Mac App Store and use it on every Mac signed into your Apple account. This is version 1.0.0.
Requirements
- macOS 15 or later.
- A Mac with Apple silicon. Intel Macs are not supported.
- Git from Apple's Command Line Tools or Xcode. To install the Command Line Tools, open Terminal and type "xcode-select --install". With Full Git Integration, GitLode uses the Git you already have instead.
First launch
- Choose how GitLode works with Git: Install Full Git Integration… or Use Basic Mode. You can change this later in Settings.
- Drag repository folders into the sidebar, or use the + menu to open, clone or create a repository.
- Pick a branch in the toolbar. Pull and Push as much as you want.
- Press ⌘+F to search.
What GitLode uses on your Mac
GitLode can open only the folders you give it, and it remembers them. See Folder access.
Out of the box, GitLode runs in Basic mode: Apple's Git from the Command Line Tools or Xcode, inside the App Sandbox. If you don't have either, run xcode-select --install in Terminal. In Basic mode, Git can't run hooks, Git LFS, signing programs such as GPG or 1Password, most credential helpers, or diff and merge tools. GitLode never skips a hook without asking you first.
Install Full Git Integration to use your own Git. Your hooks, diff and merge tools, commit signing, credentials and SSH configuration then behave exactly as they do in Terminal. It's one script, it's optional, and you can remove it in Settings.
